The two things that will most influence the type of hearing instrument you select are the extent of your hearing loss and the physical features of your ear. EPIC's ear physicians and audiologists will provide all the needed tests to determine the extent of your hearing loss and the best therapy. The vast majority of patients – between 90 and 95 percent – are significantly helped by prescription hearing aids.

Today's advanced technology ensures that people have a wide range of choice in selecting the hearing aid that meets their specific need and is most comfortable. Available styles include:

CIC (Completely-In-The-Canal)
Smallest and most discreet style. Fits deep within the ear canal. Offers solutions for mild to severe hearing loss.

ITC (In-The-Canal)
Most popular style. Precise and discreet appearance. A solution for a broad range of hearing needs, it improves a mild to severe hearing loss.

ITE (In-The-Ear)
Attractive, easy-to-use and affordable. Extremely flexible operation. Offers solutions for mild to severe hearing loss.

BTE (Behind-The-Ear)
Rests behind the ear and attaches to a custom-made earmold. Extremely durable and powerful. Compatible with wireless FM systems. Provides a solution for the full range of hearing needs from mild to profound.

Open Fit / Receiver in the Ear (RITE)
This hearing aid style is cosmetically appealing as it incorporates a very small unit that fits behind the external ear. It is lightweight and practically invisible and features a micro-tube that connects to a receiver in the ear or earmold. This style is used primarily for hearing losses that are high-frequency in nature.

For your satisfaction and comfort, you have a 45-day trial period with your hearing aid. We want to make sure your hearing is improved and that you are fully satisfied.

After conducting needed hearing tests, your ear physician or audiologist will determine if your hearing will be most improved with hearing aids in one or both ears.

If you have a hearing loss in both ears, it is important that you wear a hearing aid in each. This will maximize your ability to localize sound and understand speech. When wearing only one hearing aid, it can be hard to identify the direction or source of sound.

Many people with hearing loss have a hard time understanding conversation in the presence of background noise, in such places as crowded rooms, restaurants and auditoriums. Your EPIC ear physician or audiologist will use special tests to determine the extent to which your ears are able to function in the presence of background noise.
